Removing Programs from the All Programs Start menu

Gilgamesh

I have two applications that when they were installed they created entries
in the All Programs Start menu.
I subsequently moved them to sub menus to organise the menus cleanly but
everytime I restart my PC they reappear in the main menu. Is there any way
I can stop this happening.
(The apps are Cyberlink Power DVD and Cisco VPN client).
Thanks

Hello Gilgamesh,

I think what's happening is you've modified one of two Start Menu locations,
"Current User" and "All Users".

You probably moved the shortcuts from your "Current User" Start Menu
location and, when you restart, the entries in "All Users" is showing.

So check:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Start Menu\

I hope that's a fix for you. Good luck!

Thank you for responding.
When I read your solution I thought this makes sense and must be it, but
unfortunatly not.

When I first installed XP years ago I used TweakUI to move the C:\Documents
and Settings\Your Name\Start Menu\ directory to my D drive, this may have
something to do with it but the other applications behave themselves.

The PowerDVD application was in my D drive StartMenu and I did move it to
the All Users\StarMenu\submenu.
On rebooting it reappeared in my D drive StartMenu.
I tried just putting in a D drive StartMenu\submenu but it still gets
recreated in StartMenu on reboot.

:-(
