Quicktime player

When I click on any midi file on the internet, it always wants to open the
file with the quicktime player. These midis are always very choppy in their
playing. So much so, that you can barely recognize the tune. If I save the
midi to the computer and then open it with another program such as media
player, the file sounds fine. How can I fix this problem so when I open a
midi from the net that the music is smooth?
thanks in advance,
hb

This is probably due to your connection being imperfect or slow. You can
always try another media player such as RealPlayer or the open-source
Videolan VLC : http://www.videolan.org .

It's choppy probably because your Internet connection isn't fast enough.
Other possible reasons are your CPU isn't fast enough or you don't have
enough RAM installed. I would just download the file and play it rather
than try to play it as it's downloading.

Personally, I would associate another program to play midi files.
Right-click the file icon and choose Open With. Select your program
(e.g., Windows Media Player) and check the box that says "Always open
with this program."

If for some reason, QuickTime takes over the association again:

Control Panel | QuickTime | File Type Associations | File Types |
Audio - Audio only file formats ... and uncheck the box next to MIDI
file.
