Quickbooks compatibility with Vista

Can anyone tell me what I can do to make my Windows Vista Home Premium run
Quickbooks? I am always getting an error message and then it closes down.
It is driving me crazy cause when it closes down it won't save my entries.

What version of QuickBooks (only 2007 is compatible with Vista)?
What is the error message?

QuickBooks has just released the 2007-2008 version
which is compatible with Vista - all versions.

If you are running the 2005-06 version which is
not compatible with Vista..it can be run by running
it as 'Administrator', not Win Xp Sp2 mode.
But, you will not have the 'Navigators'.

If it doesn't want to start at all then you will definitely
have to upgrade to the (latest) 2007-08 version.
Intuit (Quicken) has said that, "If you purchased a 2007
version or are a member of the 'Advantage' club you will
get a free upgrade (??)."

We have been using QuickbooksPro 2005-06 as 'Administrator'
for months now, without the navigators, and have finally
received the latest 2007-08 version and everything
now works as it should.

Check the web-site and see if you are able to (entitled to)
get the upgrade.

best of luck.

Quickbooks 2007, now I don't even get a error message, it just stops
responding and I have to shut it down with the Task Manager. I have tried to
reinstall it, and also repair it. Nothing seems to work.

Our upgrade was from QuickBooks Pro 2005-2006
to QuickBooks Pro 2007-2008. Our disc's arrived from
Quicken automatically when they finally released the
2007-08 version/s.

If you purchased QuickBooks Pro 2007 from retail, I would
suspect that you would be entitled to the 'Vista' upgrade
version. As I said, please check with the retailer or the
web site.

You might want to post the error message. If you are now unable to run QB at
all, as you stated in a later post, the following may help:

1) go to the 'Program & Features' applet in Control Panel.
2) Open it, find the QB icon.
3) Click on the QB icon
4) Follow the prompts. You will be able to either uninstall QB or repair it.
Choose repair.

The above may resolve your issues. QB 2007 is completely Vista Compatible.
You do NOT need 'an upgrade' in order to run QB 07 on Vista.

Does it say anything about actually answering a question or do you
just cruise the Intenet playing cop?

Are there any errors shown in Event Viewer?

I have tried that with no success. My Windows Vista came loaded on my
machine, so I don't believe that it is the upgrade but the original program.

If that's the case, you should call tech support. It should still be in
warranty and let them help you straighten it out. Did QB *ever* work on your
machine? If so, and if it hasn't been too long, you could do a system
restore, choosing a restore point that pre-dates the problem. Other than
that, since the machine is fairly new, let the manufacturer sort it out.

1st, I am not sure what Event Viewer is. I am new to Vista. 2nd, my
computer just stops responding. I can get to the point of opening the
Quickbooks 2007, enter my password, I get the program to open. When I go to
invoices or customers or anything else for that matter it just stops
responding. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it with limited short term
luck, I have tried the "repair" feature with no luck. I am by no means a
computer guru.

Event Viewer is a utility that displays logs Windows creates which can
sometimes be helpful in troubleshooting problems. To open it type eventvwr
in search or do it through Control Panel - Administrative Tools. (This is
not a new feature to Vista. It dates back to Windows NT.) Under Windows
Logs look particularly at Applications and System Events for any red flagged
error items mentioning QuickBooks. If found, post the error message(s).

Also, It sounds like there is some possibility that your QB data file is
corrupted. I suggest trying to open one of the QB sample files or creating
a new simple test file to check this possibility out.

Just a thought -- Intuit has been having major problems Tuesday on with
their server/database and the load of internet IRS filings.

Could your installation have been trying to get on line to update,
which Quicken programs seem to like to do when you open them?
