Hey guys,

I'm thinking about getting more memory for my machine, I'm running video editing software so I reckon it'd be useful. Specs as follows -

P4 630
Asus P5ND2-SLi Deluxe
XFX GeForce 6600GT
Corsair 1GB DDR2 Value Select PC4200 (2*512)

Should I go for -

2*1GB Corsair Value Select @ £123

or

2*512 Corsair Value Select @ £58

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Corsair_Value_Select_DDR2.html

I suppose getting the same manufacturer helps a little. I'm also guessing getting 1*1GB might not be too smooth in a system with 2 sticks already? I'm tempted by the 2*1GB because it means I wouldn't have to replace sticks if I ever wanted to go higher (Hmm...) than 2GB. Is 3GB just overkill?

One final question - what does PC4200 mean?

Thanks,

Rufus

IMO for graphics work you cant have too much RAM, what do yo have at the moment, 2x 512MB ?

i'd get the 2x 1GB as its best to balance the stick sizes, then you'll also more than likely have room for another 2GB if you need it in the future

yea I've got 2*512 corsair value select at the moment. Thought 2*1GB would be the best idea. 1.5GB on each side of the dual channel thing on my mobo

So there's two choices

PC4200 (same as the stuff in my system now) @ £123

or

PC5300 @ £158

what's the difference and should i match it to my system?
