Quick Launch for the quick-witted

Hello.

Can somebody help me with this annoying problem? My hairstyle. No,
apart from that there is this quick launch problem. I set it
(taskbar-properties-show quick launch) and apply. Then after I shut
down and start up again it always isn't set. it's liveable with if
nothing can be done, but so annoying. i've checked in McAfee and
System mechanic to see if I've accidentally set quick launch to always
switch off at shut down but can see nothing there. Does anyone have an
answer to this question? Would I need a program that tracks registry
changes so I can see what is being altered when I set it so I can
permanently set quick launch to be on view?

So frustraaaaating!

Did you unlock the taskbar also while you were there??

Mr. Nobody

Yes. I have to have my task bar unlocked because every time I boot up
I have to go to task bar properties and 'show quick launch.' So I
figured, why bother locking the taskbar? Boohoo, it's so annoying.
Any suggestions?

No, its not really unlocked, until the check is removed from the unlock
selection.

Try this
Go to >Start>Settings>Taskbar and Start Menu>Taskbar Tab
Look at Taskbar settings, make sure there is no check mark in the box for
"Lock the Taskbar"
Put a check mark in the box "Keep the taskbar on top of other Windows"
Put a check mark in the box "Show Quick Launch"
Click OK out

Now look at the taskbar, just to the right of "Start" there is a small
vertical line or bar. Hover your mouse over it and you will see a double
arrow, left click and drag the vertical bar about 2 inches and drop it
there. Then "drag and drop" a couple of program icons from your desktop into
the 2 inch space you just created. The icons should now be showing in the
quick launch bar.

Re-boot and they should be there when the re-boot process is completed.

Let us know back

Yes, the properties are always like this.

Yes, of course. Thanks but this is not a problem. I have quick launch
with the icons I want inside. But this is not the problem. After
enabling it, checking show quick launch it's never there when I boot
up again. I think I need to track the changes that are taking place in
the registry and see why it's always re-setting to NOT showing the
quick launch when I boot up. This is a very peculiar problem!!
Re-boot and they should be there when the re-boot process is completed.

Nope, it's never there. :-( Thanks for the suggestions anyway.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!

Thanks to all who responded.

I *think* what I had to do in the end was download a registry file to
make my computer remember the settings after I shut down. However,
after I installed this file and re-booted it *still* didn't work.. and
then the second time, after more fiddling around in folder options it
did. (?????!!!!!?????)

Computers!

But I'm happy now at least. :)
