Question on NERO 6.6.0.6 and burning CDs

I am running an AMD Duron 1.8 Ghz with 512 mb ram, on a ASUS
A7V8X-X mobo, 2 cd burners (one external 52X, one internal
52X), 200 gb hdd, 80 gb ext hdd.

Not that any of that matters.

The burning SW I have is the afore-mentioned

NERO 6.6.0.6

My question is, in my early days of burning CDs, I recall a
"drag-n-drop" feature to -- was it Roxio?

I have used SEVERAL different burning programs, and as I
recall, as bad as some were, they all did drag-n-drop.

For all I can tell, Nero 6.6 does not include a drag-n-drop
feature, and I miss it. I don't like having to use a 700
mb cd to burn 150 mb of data, and to have to erase the disk
first.

Am I missing a feature of Nero, or do I need a different
program?

What would some other, better programs be?

Bearing in mind that I am a fully disabled, retired senior,
and money IS a major issue.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Talahasee,

By "Drag and Drop" do you mean using packet writing software (such as
DirectCD for Roxio)? Please correct me if I misunderstood.

If this is the case, the Nero package includes a program called InCD which
allows you to right-click on a file and select 'send to' and you can have the
file burned to the CD without opneing Nero.

As far as using a 700 MB CD to burn 150 MB of data...I can totally
understand...kind of a waste. However, you can simply make the CD a
'Multisession Disk' so more data can be added later.

I don't think there is a better CD burning program than Nero...It is truly
one of the best programs I have on my system.

I hope I answered your question...just post back if you need to.

You are probably referring to InCD, which Nero 6 has- it's a packet writing
program that can be installed separate from Nero Burning ROM, or omitted
entirely without affecting the remainder of the program. If you have a
retail version of Nero, you can download the latest updated version (
6.6.1.4) including InCD at the Ahead website. These are handled in 5 (if I
recall correctly) separate downloads, each adding different features. I'm
not sure how versions of Nero included with hardware purchase (like a CD or
DVD RW) are upgraded, but the original should be on the disk if that's what
you have. InCD requires a properly formatted disk to "drag and drop", and
will not read from another computer that does not have a packet writing
program installed.
