Problems with installing CD\DVD Writers- Nero 7

Hello to all who burn CD's and DVD's!



I wonder if I am alone in having huge problems with installing, modifying
and updating the software for Nero 7? I find it impossible to install Nero
7 or add-ons except from the CD. When I download and try to install an
upgrade of Nero 7, Premium, or Reloaded - that is no main program change,
Nero first says it has to uninstall the exiting application, does so, and
asks for a restart of Windows.

After Windows is restarted Nero begins installing, finishes very quickly,
says it is finished and then......there is no program. It is present in
Control\Add & Remove programs alright but attempting to repair or modify
produces an error message that the Shell is corrupt.



Nero Help does not respond which I guess is an indication of lots of
problems amongst users.



I have used Nero for a long time since early version when it was simple and
by far the best CD writer. It is now a huge programme for burning and
playing all kinds of media, my last update download was something like 200
MB - and then it won't work



Is there a reasonable straight forward CD\DVD burning program that any one
of you can recommend?

IMO this is the best solution for ordinary burning tasks - it's free and
doesn't require any installation (I use it as a troubleshooting tool). It's
