Question about installation

I have a p4 2.0 with windows 2000 on it. It's an old work one from my
company that folded.
It's pw controlled. I have the pw but not admin controls. I bought xp
professional and I want to put it on it.
So my question is; how do I delete everything, i.e., f disk or whatever it
takes to erase the HD?
I heard that xp will do it for you if you boot from the disc, but I can't
boot from the disc because I have to be logged in for it to do anything.
so, How do I install XP and erase everything to start from scratch?
I appreciate any help!

Are you talking about a bios password - one that pops up before Windows
starts to come up? If so, right after you relpy to the password you
should (by hitting delete repeatedly or by some other key) get into the
BIOS setup. Set the machine to boot the CD from there. You could
probably turn the BIOS password off from there too, if that is the
password that we are talking about.

Cheers,

Cliff

It's the pw where you have to hit control/alt/delete to log in after
windows begins to start.

Your machine is not set to boot from the CDROM. You will need to go into
BIOS setup and enable booting from the CD. That's usually achieved by
repeatedly hitting the 'delete' key on boot or it may be some other key,
depending on the brand of your machine.
