Question about installation

Brad

I already posted this on the vb.installation newsgroup, but this group seems
quicker to respond.

I want to install VS .Net on a laptop that has a partitioned drive.
Unfortunately this is factory manufactured and the restore disk resets the
partition on the hard drive. Without having to purchase Partition Magic,
how would you suggest I install the program?

When I get to the options part, I change the directory to the D: partition,
but the program still wants to install on C: and eventually runs out of
space.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Brad,

You may want to do a simple xcopy install at the DOS level, which should not
be a problem because it's simply copying files to a designated drivespec.

HTH,

Bernie,

So you are saying to take the four VS installation CDs and just xcopy them
to a directory on the D: ? And then run the install from there? This is
correct? I will try this and let you know.

Thanks,

Brad

Hi Brad,

I thought you meant 'install a vs .net app', not 'install vs .net itself'.
However, try it as you described, but I doubt that it will override the
laptop's settings. Sorry.

Bernie

Bernie,

That is okay about the misunderstanding. What I got irritated about is in
the option portion of the setup I designate the directory on D:, however
setup wants to still install on C:.
