I have recd a file from a friend which I am unable to Open with the Error
msg saying

"Unrecognised database format C:\Program Files\fairwpg\ports.ldb"

How do I remove the Access LockFile9 ?

Or better still how do I install ldbviewer?
Thanking you

Did your friend send you the LDB file? He/she should have sent the MDB.

Normally, you simply delete the LDB file. If it doesn't let you delete it,
that implies someone (or some process) is still using the file. If you can't
find the process that still has a handle to the file, you might have to
reboot.

I deleted the TWO Access LockFile9. How ever, when I try to Open, it says
that

"This operation is not supported for Microsoft Access 1.X databases" and
"Invalid database Object reference".

What can be done?

What exactly is it you're trying to open?

What version of Access do you have on your machine? What version does your
friend have?

Sorry for the delay in reply. I have Microsoft Office 2000 Premium but I
don't know as to what edition my friend has! In all probability it is the
same. By the way, it is a program which he had sent on a CD and I copied it
to my hard Disk. But as I said, when I try to use it, I get these ERROR
msgs. It is the Fairplay World Ports and Distance Tables.
Could you help?
