Query: Prog to turn favorites into web pg for desktop

H

Helen

A year or so ago, I found a little program that would turn My Favorites into a webpage
for your desktop.
On the desktop it is just an icon (blue e) like any other url. I have a different
computer and don't know the
name of this little program/file. Do any of you know what I'm talking about and/or
have a site for it?
Your assistance is greatly appreciated. TIA OS-Windows 95/98/SE/XP

into a webpage
for your desktop.<

Bookmark Wizard is a little program with a simple wizard-like interface that
generates an HTML page with all/selected links from your Internet Favorites
folder. The links in the resulting page are grouped and sorted in ascending
order like they are in your Favorites folder. You can specify colors for
links and backgrounds, title, caption, etc., for your page. Also, you can
exclude certain folders from being listed. Advanced users are able to edit
the entire page template to customize it further. The resulting web page can
be used as a links page on your homepage; you can send it to a friend or use
it just as a startup page for your web browser etc.

Please note this program is not a HTML to Favorites converter, it can only
create a HTML page from Favorites.

From the screen shot I can see that it isn't the same program. The other one was
free, and easy to use. After making the webpage via moving all urls in My Faovites,
they were listed alphabetical, but also included all the other folders (Bloomberg,
CBS, etc.)
What I wanted to do is to delete those superfluous things from My Favorites and run
this
little program. It makes locating things a lot easier when you have lots of them.

Thanks again.

That one deals with fonts. I'm looking for something similar to this: (except it was
just an alphabetical list...click on it and go to the site).
This url file manager may be useful to someone. I may try it...but it's still not the
one I'm looking for.

http://www.dirfile.com/url_organizer_1.htm

Small, fast, simple utility for storing and organizing Internet bookmarks / favorites.
Innovative and intuitive interface. Three clicks or a fast text search to any URL.
Supports up to three collections of 2,000 URLs. Works with Internet Explorer, Netscape
and Opera and some other browsers.

This one is limited to 50 urls UNLESS you register it! !!!
The one I'm looking for had nothing like that. Simply freeware, download, run it and
ALL urls in MY FAVORITES were placed alphabetically on a webpage lay-out with
the blue e on the desktop...click on it, and there was a list of EVERYTHING from MY
FAVORITES
in html....click on it and go right to the source. DUH! I don't know what it's name
was but I still
have it on an old 98 (not SE) machine. I guess I can fire it up and have a look for
info. Then again,
lots of programs don't like XP.

You could have a look at VisitURL. It is not what you are looking for
but will do what you want.
It will import your IE favs and then you can save them as an HTML file
which you can set as your home page.

Helen, scroll down to the 3rd to the last one, Bookmark Wizard. At the top
of the page it says that these are freeware. This program puts a small blue
e on your desktop.

Bookmark Wizard 2.0.1, released on Saturday, July 10, 1999
Download: Bookmark_Wizard_201.exe (401 KB)

Thanks Jo. LOL! I've viewed so many of these today that I need to just make a folder
for them.
BTW, that's what I've done on the XP machine. Just made a Sites Folder and put them
all in it
on the desktop. I just click on it and open one of the sites. The other one was easy
to read and
use. Oh, well, thanks again.

<http://www.axiomx.com/masterlister.htm>
"MasterLister 2.0

ps: Masterlister includes features found in one of their previous

(text from old URLister page I saved: "Create a text list of all the

list that can be copied or saved to a text file."

I use this as my home page when I open my browser it loads up a page
with all my favourites and I just click on which I want to go to.
www.favoriteshomepage.com

Favorites Home Page (FHP) is a freeware tool for converting your
Internet Explorer Favorites into a custom home page that resides on
your computer. The home page provides access to all your web links in a
format that's easier to navigate than via the Favorites menu. Multiple
color schemes are possible, and several aspects of the style and layout
can be configured.
