I'm looking for a way to make the Quick Launch Toolbar act
a little like the Start Menu. By this I mean I'd like to
insert a folder onto my quicklaunch and when I click on it
it would expand vertically with the objects inside that
folder.

Other than placing all of these objects on the quicklaunch
bar individually and sliding the space it takes on the
taskbar over to give me the >> showing more options, is
there any other way to do what I'm looking for?

Thanks for any help possible.

Right-click the dektop and make a shortcut to any folder you want. Then drag it onto the QuickLaunch area. Does that do what you want?

Two ways to do this:

First Way (using Task bar):

To Create a toolbar...

Right-click an empty spot on the task bar, then:
Toolbar | New Toolbar...
Navigate to the folder you want quick access to | left click to select |
OK

Now, here's the tricky part... and the technical term for this is "Squish"
:]
"Squish" that new toolbar _all_ the way to the right-hand side of the
taskbar, so that only the Title & the little " >> " symbol gets displayed.
When you click on that little " >> " symbol, the folders contents will
Pop-up... just like the START button.

Second Way (using Start button)

Navigate using Windows Explorer to where you can right click the folder you
want quick access to, then
Right-click & Drag the folder to the Start Button (...don't LEFT-click and
drag!!!)
After a second, when the Start Menu pops up, continue dragging to where you
would like to insert the item.
Drop... then select "Create Shortcut here".

That is what I have done. I made a folder(for now it's on
my desktop), places shortcuts to the programs/files I want
in it and then dragged it to my quicklaunch bar.
The "problem" with that is when I click on that folder, it
just opens up a new (explorer) window with those items
inside.

I know that's technically what it should do. My desire is
to make it so i can click on that folder icon in Quick
Launch and have it expand vertically like it does when you
click on Start and choose my file/application from that.

Thanks for the feedback though.

Chris:

Thanks for the feedback. Your first suggestion regarding
the new toolbar and your technical expertise on how to do
this is more of what I'm looking to accomplish. Problem
is, I could do the same general thing just by adding all
of these files/programs to my quick launch bar
and "squishing" the quicklaunch toolbar to the left and
hiding those shortcuts and accessing them with the >> icon.

Not a knock on you by any means since you and (most)
others were helpful, but I'm hoping to find a way to
accomplish this by making a single icon in the quicklaunch
toolbar act like the Start button.
