Quark question

I use 4.1.

When I try to run it I get an, incompatible, we're working on it, message.

So I run it as Administrator and get asked if I trust the program. Sure do.
And it runs.

But Vista just won't remember that I trust my quirky quark and I'm getting
fed up with this minor annoyance.

User Agent Control is annoying. Maybe they'll get it straightened out.
You'd have to disable UAC to skip getting asked if you trust Quark.
That way when evil attempts to run you'd have no idea what's happening.
You're positioned to stymie evil grabs by tolerating the UAC prompts.

Opinion is strong but divided - some say it's worth it, some say it isn't.

In non-Quark periods I'll probably turn it back on again

But . . .

If I don't install anything new, do I need it?

And if I wanted to install something new, and I'd researched it, I'd ignore
the warning anyway, I guess.

Whenever a program does anything that requires elevated privileges, User
Access Control (UAC) prompts for it. This is a protection for you. It
gives you the control to know what programs are asking for these privileges.
It cannot be turned off on a program basis. I recommend you look for an
upgrade to that program that is UAC aware. I would not turn off UAC for
normal operations. It's there to give you control.
