Trouble with Quark access on a new network

I just set up a 4-port Belkin router between two PCs running XP Pro. Everything seemed to be working fine and we just hit a snag. I have a shared folder on my hard drive that my partner accesses and whenever I save a Quark file (ver. 6.1) she is unable to open it from the network connection to the folder.

When I send her the Quark file in an e-mail it'll open right up for her.

She can reach in, from her PC and open every other file type in the folder
making me think it is not a sharing-items-in-the-folder or user permissions issue.

Even Quark files that I saved a few weeks ago will open for her. But any
Quark file that I have open and saved in the past few weeks (possibly since
the time I hooked up the router) won't open for her.

FYI, the message when she double clicks right on the file is:

This is not a valid QuarkXPress file (or has an incorrect file extension).
[9]

And when she tries to open using Quark/file/open the message is:

Access denied. [-5000]

The *.qxp extension is there and we know it is a valid Quark file. And
again, if I e-mail it to her, she can open it right up from within the
e-mail as well as from her desktop. So I believe the issue is with our
networking and not a Quark issue, and Quark tech support confirmed this.
They said if it opens when it is on her PC it can't have anything to do with
the way I'm saving it in Quark, and that it must have to do with the user
permissions. But like I said, she can access anything else in that folder,
even Quark files saved by me a few weeks ago. I also checked the encryption stuff and that is all turned off. I'm not sure about the date being precisely when I hooked up the router, but strongly suspect that.

Thanks in advance, for any suggestions.

Matt
