I get 60fps with quake 4 on high setting and a resoltuion of 1024 x 768 for single player.

Is that good?

Edit: Split from Thread to keep on topic :)

Sounds pretty good - are you using any anti-aliasing?

Check your graphics card options (right click on desktop, properties, settings, advanced) and see if there are any options mentioning it. Its usually No AA, 2x, 4x or even 8x AA - each higher number gives a slower FPS but a much higher graphics card quality :)

I see it lists AA btu doesnt say much about it. Let me know if you want me to take a screenshot of another section there.

OK, under "Current Settings" it says AA is under application preference - so it won't use it unless Quake 4 tells it to under options.

It runs well at 60fps so I wouldn't change anything there to be honest :)

I just found out ho to change the AA. I prob wont though as i have no idea what im doing really :)

It doesnt allow me to change between openGL and Direct3D. Does the game choose the best option as you play it?

Its simply a method of programming - so the game will use one or the other, you can't choose :)
