Quake 4

I can't get Quake 4 to work with any Vista build. When it errors out,
Microsoft claims that Activision has a patch. I go to Activision, id
Software and the Quake 4 site. But no stinking patch. Anyone have any
ideas?

The patch for Quake 4, is the 1.3 patch. You can get patch from
www.gamershell.com. And you also need drivers for you graphics card, make
sure you get correct drivers for the correct build of VISTA you are using.

Jim, in order for Quake 4 to work in VISTA, you also need to have the
correct video card drivers for your video card, the VISTA drivers that come
with VISTA is not enough. I have Quake 4 and updated to 1.3, with 1.3 patch
working, both Single and multiplayer in VISTA RC2(5744)_X86. My grahics card
is the EVGA 7900GTX, and using the RC2 VISTA drivers provided by NVIDIA.
NVIDIA has drivers for both VISTA RC1 and RC2. If your Graphics Card is ATI,
then you need to goto ATI, For VISTA RC1, RC2 video card drivers. I hope this
helps .

Not much to say other than I copied my Quake 4 installation direction from XP
drive over to Vista (RC2, x64) drive and ran it - works great. Looks and
runs perfectly.

I'm using Nvidia 7800GT with the latest Nvidia RC2 drivers.
