Can the "Engine ROM" be updated by downloading it to the printer or is it a
more techie prob.

My MC2 has ver A2 with no calibration/density and i would like to update it
to A3 or later ?.

I've updated the firmware and crownnet thanks to a kind person on this
group.

Noop, the chip you mention is a Read Only Memory device, in other words you
can not reprogram it.
for the calibration option you require at least lda1-3, afaik lda1-4 is the
last revision available.
Maybe if you call qms tech support they will be kind enough to send you one
to replace it and if you're realy lucky the current chip is installed on a
socket instead of soldered to the board.
I've seen a lot of lda 1-2 chips which are soldered directly on the board,
there is no other sollution but to desolder them.
If you know of someone with an eprom programmer I could see if I can obtain
the hex file and rom specifics to e-mail to you.
