Puzzle of the day

I would really appreciate any help with this nuisance.
Windows XP Service pack 1. (Don't ask why I haven't updated to Service Pack
2-that's another entirely new puzzle that I don't want to deal with at this
time)
P4@2Gigs , 256 Meg RAM. Clean install recently/no adware /spyware trojans,
worms etc. of any kind.
Problem: We all log in as administrators. No problem. Anyone tries to open an
mp3 file- still no problem. Anyone but ME tries to alter an mp3 file in any
way like delete, right click to see its properties, or even click file, and
windows explorer "encounters a problem" and quickly boots you out to the
desktop. I'll say it again. This does NOT happen when I log in!!!
I tried to download a new mp3 and even install new ones from my back up
disk: No way!! This happens ONLY with mp3 files. All other file formats are
not affected, even "avi".
My son uses this computer more than anyone else and music is very important
to him so he's very annoyed.
Thanks

Create a new user with admin privileges. Does the problem also occur
for that new user? If not then copy the data from your son's account to
that new one then delete this old account.

Hi,

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to the key below and either delete it
or rename it. Ex. Right click/Rename and add -off to the end.

Or: For MP3's - Clear out the Value data here:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mp3\PersistentHandler

In the meantime, run this combo:

Run Ad-Aware SE, Spybot, CWShredder and HijackThis:

Note: Update the first two programs, once installed, before running.
