Puter hangs up

for about the last month and 1/2 it will hang up/lock up/ freeze for about
2-3 sec then work fine for 40-60 sec then repet over and over.Ive cleaned it,
defrag ,optimized, ran virus scans cleared the cache...what else? any ideas?
full system restore? sp2 didnt help......can you?
