Puter hangs up

for about the last month and 1/2 it will hang up/lock up/ freeze for about
2-3 sec then work fine for 40-60 sec then repet over and over.Ive cleaned it,
defrag ,optimized, ran virus scans cleared the cache...what else? any ideas?
full system restore? sp2 didnt help......can you?

Are there any entries in the Event Viewer that may point to the problem?
