HI

My PC has started to hang on Startup

Its gets as far as the Phillips screen (the first one actually) and
hangs there for 3-4 minutes before booting up. Its only 2 months old
and i havent installed anything recently. I have no other problems at
all it boots fine once its stopped hanging. I have run anti virus and
spyware checks and performed a full sysytem mechanic test and
everything shows up fine.

what am i misisng, what could cause this huge hang?

you might try a freeware
called autoruns from microsoft.com.

one of the tabs will be notated
as something related to boot up.

take a look there and see if there is
anything in it that is questionable in
the boot tab.

If so, you can simply disable the
entry by checking it and
double clicking the filename. The
registry will pop open and will disable
that key. You can undue the disabling
by unchecking the line in autoruns.

however, if there isn't something showing
up in the boot tab, there will be
others tabs that you can double check as well.

other than the easy way above, there are a lot
of possibilities as to why you can't boot
up fast anymore...

i suppose you can compare the o.s.
in safemode and see if that boots up
faster than your normal mode..

maybe registry hives are defrafgmented.

maybe a system restore can help.

maybe the pagefile needs to be
resized or relocated.

maybe a debugger is pre launching.
