When I do this and try to open the drive to use a floppy
it gives the flash
light pix and tells me it cannot find the drive, Anyone
know why?
Thanks.

Answer?: Don't put drive A:/ on desktop.

Right-click the shortcut, click 'Properties', select 'Shortcut' tab.
In the 'Target' field it should simply say: A:\

At a guess you may find it to be pointing to a *file* on a floppy.

Find another way to handle this for a while. A recent Windows update has
broken shortcuts pointing to drives. MS is aware of the problem and a fix
should come along eventually but until it does you'll need to access the
drive differently.

May want to try an Explorer shortcut with the focus on the A drive. Create
a shortcut to explorer.exe and change the target line in the shortcut's
properties to read: %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,a:

Hi Norm,

Open Control Panel > Add/Remove programs and uninstall the Microsoft
WindowsUpdate hotfix "821557"
