Purple discoloration in XP

I've noticed that ever since I installed Windows XP w/sp2 on my system, I now
have a light purple discoloration in the upper left-hand corner of my monitor
(Dell 21"). It almost looks like someone is holding a weak magnet next to
it. Here's the interesting part, I never had this problem in Windows 2000.
Here's another interesting point. My son's PC is also doing the same thing
on his 19" Dell monitor. Why is XP doing this and 2000 is not? I reverted
back to Win2K and the problem is gone. The only thing I can think of is that
both video cards are by nVidia (can't remember the model), and both monitors
are Dell's. PC's are different though. All the latest drivers and Windows
updates have been applied. Degausing doesn't help either. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Update the video drivers from the vendor's site. Follow the update
procedure exactly. Also, check the cooling systems, fans, etc.

Move your speakers away from the monitor.

Perform a monitor self test, if the feature is available, or use another
computer to determine if the problem is with the monitor or computer.
You probably have a problem with the monitor.
