BIOS discolored splash screen... desktop

From the begining....

-Computer has been shutting down from being too hot I suspect (CPU fan
slowing to a halt sometimes)

-One time, I cleaned out the fan for a second time, took apart
everything remounted motherboard, text on BIOS appears to be yellow and
have vertical yellow bars and specks on windows desktop.

-I remounted the MOBO again...
-checked my memory
-reseated my AGP graphics card
-tried another AGP card.... (have no PCI cards...)
-reordered a new cpu (still waiting on it) because I need a new fan and
when I looked at my cpu I saw slight black smudge above center of chip
but later was told it was nothing, because my computer can still boot
up.
-checked my monitor cable by wigggling it around and trying a new
monitor.
-Had everything unplugged... only HDD plugged in.
-Turned off AGP fast write, and 8x speed in BIOS (BIOS setup has no
discolorations)

I'm coming to the conclusion that it is my MOBO so i'm trying to find
another Asus A7N8X to order... i've had it for 2 years!

Asus A7N8X-Deluxe MOBO rev. 1.1 333Mhz FSB
1024 PC2700 ram...
Athlon XP 2400+

Sounds like you're on top of it. Try another graphics adapter then you'll
know for sure.

Or you can also try another monitor? Monitors do wear out eventually.

Go to the windowsxp.hardware group. The cpu should not discolor, sign of
overheating.
