Publishing to my local server

My Frontpage 2003 install has been working flawlesly for a long time, but
now, after some automatic updates, I can't publish my web sites to my local
server.

When I try I get a message "Documents in this folder are not available the
folder may have been moved or deleted, or netwoek problems may be preventing
a connection to the server".

I click ok, and in the resulting "New Publish Location" Screen I go to "My
Network Places" where the name of my local web site is listed. I click on it,
and I got my site listed as the "Remote Web Site Localion" in the "Remote Web
Site Properties screen". When I click OK in this screen, a screen comes up
saying:

"Unable to open "http://my_desktop/"web_site" server error: An error
occurred accessing your windows share point services site files. etc.

posible causes:

1.-Web server may not have the server extensions installed
2.- Web server out of service. . . etc"

What puzzels me is that I can browse my local web pages with a lot of
dynamic elements with no problem, that appears to indicate first that the
local web page server is functional and second that the extensions are
functional too.

I am accessing my XP Pro install as administrator.

I really don't know where the problem is, help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Alfred

1) Unless http://my_desktop/ is the name of your PC you don't access localhost that way
and do not use quotes on subweb names as in "web_site"
- it should be http://my_desktop/web_site or http://localhost/web_site or http://yourPCname/web_site

In Browser open http://localhost/_sharepoint/fpadmdll.dll (and login in w/ your PC credentials if asked)
Select the link to Root web and try running a Recalculate Hyperlinks

Hi Stefan

I sure appreciate your suggestions, but indeed the name of my computer is
"My_Desktop" and I used "Ny_Website" as a sustitute of the real silly name of
my web site.

The puzzlling fact is that I can browse my local sites typing
-http://my_desktop/romet =real name- but not http://localhost or
http://localhost/romet; in this last two I get an "http://500 internal server
error"

And I can't publish to my local server as stated in the other postings.

Any help is deeply appreciated.

Thank you

Alfred

Can you open the website by;
Open FP
File | Open Site
then in the bottom address window type in http://my_desktop/my_web or
whatever it was in the above posts?
