Guest

I've just updated files to my website and have foun
the website has disappeared. All that comes up is a test page

I had the same problem when I first tried to upload files

Here's what happens

When I click onto the publish website button the status shows th
files as listing and then the files start deleting

I've followed all the instructions in my Front Page 2003 manual bu
I still cannot get the files to upload

Earlier I was advised to move the files up one directory which I did and
the files uploaded.

Can anyone help with advise that can sort this problem out

Make sure your publishing local to remote, if your
development site is on your local machine.

If your working on a live site, yoursite.com - all you
need to do is hit the save button.

Check the view drop down in the upper left of the publish
page, this may shed some lite what's going on.

Don't use the Publish button
Use File Publish Site to see where you are publishing

I've checked the advice from net55 and StefanB Rusynk
and I still can't get it to upload.

What should be straightforward instructions from FP 200
manual that I am working from still results in no upload

Are there any other suggestions before I chuck it in the bin

I'd open the http:// site live with FP (not the local copy) to see where your files are ending up.

Maybe your home page is named incorrectly.

I am not sure what you mean by 'opening the http:// sit
live with FP (not the local copy) to see where the files are
ending up.'

re: home page name, I've called it index.ht

The next step

Try renaming your home to index.html or Index.html

Check w/ your host what the home page file name should be and have them install the FP Extensions
(according to http://www.taichienergizers.com/_vti_inf.html there are no FP SE at the site you listed)

I've tried changing file the home page to index.html an
Index.html but it still won't upload

I've checked my host and he has my files but FP wil
not upload my files. He suggest that it seems to be an F
problem

I've copied the files to another difrectory, which worked
when I had this problem before, but it still will not upload

The problem appears to be in FP. It will not upload my files
When I try to publish to website I still get the status indicatin
files are being listed then it deletes the files

To narrow it down, how do I stop FP deleting my files so I can
upload the files

Any help would be appreciated as this getting beyond a joke

Did you do all of what Stefan said in his post?

Your site does not have FP extensions installed. Either your host does not support them - or they are not installed.

FP extension

I've checked my website and it is now there. I followe
the same instructions as before and the files uploaded

The end result is it now works but I don't know what wa
causing the problem in the first place

In case it happens again has anybody any ideas why

Maybe the host had one too many Fosters that day?

If you're on a linux/unix server though, I'd remove all the spaces from your page names...they appear as %20. Just rename pages on your local copy, recalculate hyperlinks and re-Publish. You can use underscores _ instead of spaces

you may also want to avoid capitalization, as you can see it makes a difference...for instance; your Products link at top right doesn't work, but the link to the book at the bottom right of the page does... T and t are different on *nix.

just rename all your pages without spaces and capitals like this:
www.taichienergizers.com/chris_bennett_taichi.htm (actually thats kinda long)
the Title of your page CAN be:
Chris Bennett Tai Chi Book (or whatever)
but the actual page file name should not...

I hope I understood your question...by Chi has left the building.

Robosan.

| Thanks to all who helped with their advice.
