Publishing Problem / No Problem on LAN

I

Ian

Hi.

This note is more of a technical question than a comment,
and I am hoping that someone might have had a similar
experience and may be able to help me.

I have my company Frontpage website hosted on the
Frontpage server of a local ISP, however, due to my
remote location, I connect to my web host through a two-
way satellite connection provided by Direcway. My office
configuration consists of four XP machines on a peer to
peer network, with one machine attached to the satellite
modem and sharing internet access through ICS.

For several years I have updated my company Frontpage
website from my desktop computer which is directly
attached to the Direcway satellite modem. However, last
fall something changed and I was no longer able to update
my website through Frontpage, in spite of having a good
internet connection. After discussions with Direcway and
my ISP, they suggested I upgrade my version of Frontpage
to the '02 version which was then available. This did
not solve my problem.

While still trying to figure it out, I attempted to
update my web site through my laptop which is connected
to the internet through my LAN and ICS, and I was able to
successfully update my website. This still confuses the
heck out of me.

Several tacts have been tried from my desktop, such as
turning off all firewalls and pop-up and ad preventers,
but my desktop computer is still unable to update my
website through Frontpage. I get the error message that
Frontpage cannot find a website by the name I have
entered, and would I like for Frontpage to create one for
me, which I decline. Yet I can update the website using
Frontpage on my laptop, through my ICS connection. Go
figure.

One other concern is that the linkbar I have set up in
Frontpage often does not post to the website, in order to
make that change, it is necessary for me to open the web
stored on the ISP and update the active version.

Can anyone there tell me if they have had problems
updating web sites through a Direcway connection or can
you provide some insight as to what I might try to
resolve these issues?

Thank you - Ian Jefferds
