Publisher won't open

I am using XP Pro. Whenever I email work I've done in Publisher the recipient cannot open my file because it says it cannot be opened in the version I have sent. I am attempting to email from XP Pro Publisher to 2000 Publisher.
 
XP Publisher is version 2002...you need to save your file in
Publisher 2000 format. They are different.

Some features may not be available when you change formats.

Use the file "save as" command to save in other versions.

You can also save as PDF, then anybody can see the work.
