Publisher to FP

I built and web page recently in Publisher XP and found it didn't work well in IExplorer once it was published, but worked fine with Netscape. It was suggested to me that Publisher was not a true website program and that Frontpage might format my site for efficient accessiblilty. Is this true and if so, how do I transfer my already built site to FP without getting all the extra clutter from Publisher that seems to make it so slow to load.

Publisher creates, imo, a mess of a webpage...you can do better with Word. Import the Publisher page into FP but only use it temporarily to snag pieces of it to build a new page, I think this would be the easiest. The few times (many years ago) that I tried to use Publisher to create a page it created what amounted to be one giant graphic which I considered pretty stupid, so I just rebuilt it in FP.

Publisher is NOT a program to use for building web sites... It is a desktop
Publishing site and even though they say you can save the pages as HTML you
don't want to use that option ...ever!
Best Practices say to start over using FrontPage! That way you'll learn to
work in the correct program. Things from Publisher are slow because it is
almost all images ... large file sizes!

Sorry Crash, but:
Please don't use Word either because it uses all sorts of non- web styles
and fonts. Fonts are deprecated now and we should all be using Cascading
Style Sheets to tell all our text how to look! Whenever I receive a Word doc
for a site I have to strip away all the formatting and bloated code.

Fonts are NOT depreciated, as you still have to specify them when using CSS.

I am a "baby" web publisher and apprecitate your input. Knowing that I should just start from scratch lets me know I am not being a total comp illiterate for not figuring out a good way to import. And Eleanor, what you said about the huge image files makes sense to me and the problems I am encountering. I will quit wasting my time on trying to make the programs compatible and redo. Isn't it said that life if good if we learn something new every day? This is a good day
