Ptrinter/Scanner

When I installed my newHP Photosmart 7850 printer, myCannon 4200f scanner
would no longer make copies---it will still scan pictures and such. I get
the message "Canoscan Toolbox application has encountered a problem and needs
to close". Have tried uninstalling both scanner and printer. Have pursued
the problem with both Canon and HP. Both say the problem is with Windows (I
have Windows XP on a Dell computer) software. HELP!

Use the Uninstall Utility from the Canon website and totally uninstall the
scanner... (including the ScanGear Toolbox)..

Ensure you have the latest drivers and then reinstall it. Remember to
follow the instructions carefully, don't connect it back to the PC until the
software tells you to do so.

Updated, windows drivers, removed all programs associated with the scanner,
reinstalled by step by step instructions---still will not copy (does
everything else). Any other suggestions?

In the Control Panel, Admin Tools, Services, is WIA (Windows Image
Acquisition) set to Automatic, Manual or Disabled?
