PST not defined properly through MST

Not clear whether this is an Office or Outlook issue; the Office Setup ng
suggested that I do post it in Outlook.

Outlook203

I have defined through the MST for a personal folder (*.pst file) to be
added to each user's hard disk. The *.pst is defined in the new Outlook2003
format, but when installed through the administrative installation it comes
up in the old format.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ofra

There is a known bug in the CIW and CMW that produces a problem with one of the settings for Unicode PST files. You'll need to export the .prf file and edit it manually to change the EncryptionType setting value from 0x40000000 to 0x50000000. Save the .prf file, then import it back into the CIW to deploy.

Solved the problem. Thank you so much.

Follow-up question - is there a way to define a pst through the CIW that
will open a separate file for each user logging on to the machine? I know
this is really much, but if I don't ask :)

Thanks again

Certainly. Just place the file in the %userprofile% folder hierarchy, which is specific to each user. The usual location is %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.

Once again thanks.

Our IT wants the PST to be located in a directory under the root for backup
and access purposes. I told them it was an either/or situation. For now we
are leaving things as they are and on the few computers where more than one
users are needed we will make the modification by hand.

Thank you.
