PS2 Mouse and Keyboard is not functioning

M

Mohamed Shafiee

Hi,

I ran into a problem yesterday, when my colleague's PC stopped detecting the
mouse and keyboard. At first, the mouse was not detected. I learned this
after checking the device manager. After another reboot, after unplugging
and replugging the mouse, the keyboard stopped working. This happened after
he did a clean install of windows xp integrated with sp2. He has the chipset
drivers, and other installation CDs so he would have followed the
installation instructions. What could be the problem? Could it be that there
is a hardware problem?

Shafiee.

It is easy to have a loose plug or to bend the pins when
installing a PS/2 device. They also must be in the correct
port.

Try the keyboard and mouse on another machine to make sure they function.
If they do, then reverse the process and try a keyboard and mouse from
another machine on the problem machine. If a keyboard or mouse from another
machine also do not function on the problem machine then something may have
gone out on the mobo.
