Proxy settings

N

Norm Stegen

I recently upgraded to DSL. When I try to access IE, I get
a message for about 4 minutes, "DETECTING PROXY
SETTINGS..." before it finally loads. How can I avoid this
in the future?
Thanks

I've had this problem recently, I think it's related to a
particularly nasty piece of spywarethat's been posted
about a lot on this board. Go to Tools>Internet Options>
Connections> LAN Settings and uncheck 'Automatically
detect proxy settings'. You should be able to browse now
but I suspect you'll probably have problems searching
using google and yahoo. I haven't yet overcome that
little hurdle, but like I say, check the messages near the
top of this board that relate to being unable to search
and try out some of the solutions given.

If of course you get search problems that is.
