Opening my browser

I have noticed lately that when I start IE, it shows at the bottom left that
it is detecting proxy settings. I don't use proxies and it takes up to 30 sec
sometimes to open the page. I have DSL and it usually loads the page super
fast. Where do I look to find what is going on?

Look in IE-Tools-Internet Options-Connections under Settings and LAN
Settings.

I have this same problem. I have reset the "LAN Settings" as directed below
many times. No matter how many times I've set "no proxy"; IE always restarts
looking for a proxy. As is something in the startup is resetting my "no
proxy" choice.

Under Lan Settings, is "Automatically detect settings" checked? If so,
uncheck it and see if that helps.
