Proofing Language

I have a document that beings proofing in English but then switches to
French. I can't seem to change it to English. Any suggestions.
 
There must be a bit of text (maybe only a single character!) marked
Language: French for some reason. If there really isn't any French in
the document that you'd like the French tools to check, then select
the whole thing (Ctrl-A) and go to Tools > Language > Set Language,
and choose the variety of English (US, UK, whatever) that you want to
be in. (Then immediately click somewhere in the document to deselect
it, so you don't accidentally lose the whole thing.)
