Prompt for "from" address when composing

I use Outlook 2003 to view email from several internet mail accounts using
pop3. When I compose a new email, Outlook automatically makes the new
email's "from" address the same as my default email account's address. Many
times I'd like to send emails with other accounts as the "from" address but I
can't seem to remember every time to change it from the default. Is there a
way to have it prompt me for the "from" address to use every time? Or maybe
just have it default to blank so I can manually put it in for each new
message? Or something? Thanks.

You'd need to use VBA to create such a prompt.

Outlook needs an acct selected in order to send mail, so it will always
default to the default acct. Note that if you use word as the editor and
set signatures you can see the sig before composing and select a different
account. If the sigs are different enough, it could be enough to catch your
attention.

See if outlookcode.com has any samples - it goes into the vba editor

For future searchers I have found that there's no good way to do this in
Outlook 2003. For an even better non-code solution: set up a dummy account
as your default account. By default, Outlook will try to use the dummy
default acct to send with. So if you don't change the sending acct to
another one before you send the email, it'll hang up in your outbox since it
cannot be sent since there is no real account for it to use. Works
wonderfully.

I came here looking for a solution to this problem. The coding may work, but I much prefer the simpler and more elegant 'dummy' account solution. That is pure genius. The best solutions are the simplest!
