programs starting slowly

when i click to open a program/document sometimes it takes forever to open.
also when i am typing something it seems to stop for a few sec. for example
when i typed example just now i had to wait several seconds for the ple to
display. any suggestions? it doesn't happen all the time but seems to be
getting worse. amd 1200 processor, xp home. and i uninstalled sp2 and i wish
i had done it a long time ago. i was having these problems before ui. is
therer any way to correct this? is there a chance it's my processor or maybe
my mouse?

There is no way for us to determine what is causing your problems from
the information contained in your post. I can say with almost 100%
certainty that while hardware may be the issue, it is probably not your
