Hi all, hope someones got an idea on this problem as i'm about to throw the
PC out the window and drive over it a few times...

I've got 8 PC's on a small network all running windows 2000, when any of my
users and myself go to say Hotmail, hotmail responds with:

Web Browser Software Limitations

Your Current Software Will Limit Your Ability to Use Hotmail

You are using a web browser that Hotmail does not support. If you continue
to use your current browser software we cannot guarantee that Hotmail will
work correctly for you.

We recommend that you upgrade your web browsing software and invite you to
download Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.

HOWEVER, I've got IE6 loaded on all the machines! We are now getting the
same problem with some other sites which say:

Sorry, your browser is not supported by this site.

This site requires IE4 or above or Nescape Communicator 4.0 (or compatible)
or above

Any ideas
Please help

Hi,
A reposted message. Mike Burgess information channeled through PA Bear...

Hotmail's been having loads of problems since the recent server and service
upgrade, Jeff. Here are a few items which can bring on the "incompatible
browser" error in IE (courtesy of MVP Mike Burgess):

1) Zone Alarm Pro [Private Header Info - enabled?] Reset "Ad Blocking" and
"Cookie Control" to "medium" "Mobile Code Control" = Off

2) Symantec (ISS\NIS) [Enable Browser Privacy - enabled] Active Content -
"Allow All Scripts To Execute" Problem: some sites cannot detect the 128 bit
encryption Solution: Completely remove and reinstall NIS.

3) Any "ad blocking" software that blocks "http_referer" or contains entries
that are blocking access to the desired site.

4) HOSTS file that contains entries that are blocking access to the desired
site.

5) Cookie blocking software that are blocking "required" Cookies.

6) Pop-up blockers that are stripping header\url info.

7) WebWasher Standard Filter/URL Filter

8) Make sure the following entry is not corrupt:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings] "User Agent"="Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Win32)"

Note: "Win32" = Windows 98\ME Other versions = (compatible; MSIE 6.0;
Windows NT 5.0;)
