Hello Out There,

I have a little minor but annoying problem.

I have a number of programs running on my computer. Some I have added
to the startup folder, others have added themselves in the registry.

One program is called

Karens' Replicator - it starts from the startup folder. For a long
time it showed up fine in the taskbar. Suddently af a faulty harddisk
and some freezes it stopped. Tried uninstall and reinstal. Doesn't
work. I can kill the process and then start the program manually, then
it shows up again, until the next reboot. The program IS running
though, just not showing in the taskbar.

Getright tray icon - same thing.
FeedReader 2.80 - same thing.
Microsoft Antispyware - same thing.
System Volume Control - same thing.

I have other icons in the taskbar - they don't show this problem!!

Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks - Regards Leif.

"faulty harddisk" and "some freezes"?
It could be anything, corrupt registry etc.
Have you tried system restore?

ummm they all are programs (to my knowledge) that minimise to the (hmmm non
technical term to say this) they all mimise to the mini icon tray on the task
bar, check if they are there, maybe there is an option to have them go to the
taskbar...

Hope that helped

Thank you for the suggestion.

I have disabled system restore - too heavy on my system.

But it would have been a suggestion.

Yes there is options on all the programs.

However disableling them and then reableing them doesn't seem to help.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi MAP,

That is some little handy tool.

I realized that it was NOT the Taskbar, but the notification area,
where the little icons didn't show up .... ups!!!

However it says to restore this it will Disable SSDP and uPNP. I've
searched on this and found this is the universal Plug and Play. I
can't really understand which effect it will have on my computer to
let this utillity disable those things.

Do you have any idea?

Yes - VERY handy utilities :)

Anyway - this little icon in the notification area is a big K on red
background. For some strange reason it has suddently turned into a big
K on blue bagground (I have replicator in my strartup folder - but
since the little icon doesn't show up in the notification area, I have
to shut it down via task manager and restart it manually to se the
Icon - the program runs in the background anyway, but from time to
time I need it to make a manual backup.

Regards Leif.
