Programme not running.

Hi
I am a distance learner doing a degree course through Uni of Wales. They
provide us with a programme to install on pc which allows access to community
notice boards, tutor support and uni email system etc.
I have been running this successfully for 2 years now. A couple of days
ago, I tried to access the programme and got the following message:

FirstClass(R) Client for Windows 32 has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

The window gives the opportunity to report the fault to microsoft which I
have done. I have system restored my pc to a date previous to the last time
I accessed this programme but to no avail. I cannot think of anything I have
done to cause this to not work any more.

Any ideas please?

A few things to try:

- If it's a newsreader program, I suspect it saves the posts to a file
that has been corrupted. Simply deleting this file will allow a new one
to be created. But you might lose the pointers showing what posts were
previously read. Rename the file in question from [noticeboard1].dbx to
[noticeboard1].bak (sample names, of course) The file that's damaged
will probably be the one with the most recent date.

- Remove, then reinstall the software, saving any posts or other files
you want to keep beforehand.
