Using Win XP SP2. After going through Start to Programs I am then shown the
lists of programs on my computer. I'm now at three and one half columns and
my question is how can I "resize" the columns or increase the number of
them?
Thanks

start/run, type:

%userprofile%/start menu/programs

Edit the folders as you wish.

Thanks Mark but I am not sure how this assists with my "problem"? Maybe I
have not been clear in describing the issue. I will run out of room (it
would appear) after I have filled the four columns (showing all my
programs). Or will the o/s keeping adding columns for me? If not, how do I
make any changes myself (short of deleting programs off my computer)?
Thanks

Well, aside from the start menu Property to 'scroll programs" you could buy a second video card and monitor. :/

To keep the start menu manageable, most folks group similar programs.
Example: A folder named "Graphics" might hold shortcuts for a variety of
graphic programs. Subfolders could be added under Graphics to sort editing
programs from layout or cataloging programs.

For the column widths: The column's width is determined by the longest
name. To reduce the width, rename items with shorter names. Example: Change
something like Microsoft Office Professional 2003 to MSOffice or
Office2003.
