After a crash, I reloaded XP. After the reload, the
Program Events Sounds feature, such as log on/off, new
mail, etc., do not work. The sound system tests fine, the
set up on the control panel for sounds appears to accept
the scheme, such as Windows default, yet when I log
on/off, get new mail, etc., no sounds are produced. I do
detect a slight popping in the speakers. How can I
correct this problem? Thanks.
