Hi,

removed.

Any idea's as to why/how this is happening?

Much Appreciated!!

Provided that there is no Norton/Symantec software installed:

Delete the registry entry "NoSaveSettings" where present or set its value
to '0'. Reboot when done and create the shortcuts again. You may want to
create a System Restore point before you edit the registry.

Hi DD,

No joy I'm afraid. It just seems to be shortcuts not actual files.

I made the registry change, rebooted, added some shortcuts to the desktop,
rebooted again. Just after logging in, the shortcuts were there and I
watched them dissapear.

very annoying!!

Well, that's not normal and could be caused by a damaged profile and/or
malware. Try again using a different user/admin account and scan your
system for malware thoroughly.

Looks like a damaged profile. Have tried using another profile and there was
no problem.

This is a domain profile. How do I go about recreating it without loosing
anything?

Cheers,

Sounds like a corporate computer to me within a productive environment.
It's best to contact the system administrator.
