Hi..i am migrating users from a netware based network to server 2003 , all
user have a local profile , profile will continue to be local but i need to
copy the local profile to the users new domain name profile

ie current user "joe" has account and profile , joe joins the domain and a
joe.smith profile is created , i then need to copy the joe to joe.smith
profile

i have been using the user profile settings tool within system , selecting
copy joe to joe.smith and permitted to use domain\joe.smith

sometimes this is working but i am finding that i get an "access denied "
error when attempting the above on lots of workstations

i am logged on locally as the local administrator , the user has no
encrypted folders etc

how do i overcome the "access denied " problem

thanks

there has to be a diff between the "access denied" victims and the
other users, find it is then the most logical answer

do they have access on the higher level in the folderstructure?
maybe a clash of NTFS and Share permissions?
are they all members of the same group/OU?

I've seen that happen when the "new" user had recently logged into the
computer and there has not been a reboot between then and when you are trying
to overwrite thie profile with the new one. I'd try rebooting the machine
and then execute the copy operation again.
