Hi there,
I'm a new user of XP. 4 days ago I purchased a new
computer and the updates window came on. I went to the
site they suggested and it scanned my computer.
something like 33 updates were critical or recommended
for my computer. My question is are all these
recommendations necessary. How do I determine which I
should spend time and space on? Are all the critical
updates really necessary? And how about the
recommended? I just don't know.

Hi

I would suggest that you accept all of the critical/security updates. As to the recommended updates, that is really up to the individual user - although one that you may not need - unless you are a developer - is the .NET Framework update. You can find out more about the updates by clicking on 'Read More...' for each one.
