product keys for more than one computer?

I have purchased windows xp professional for my desktop pc
from my college computer store. The copies are sold to
students at a discount and only one per student. I have
also purchased a new laptop and want to upgrade that one
to windows xp too. I was told by the store that microsoft
can issue another product key so that I don't have to find
an entirely new copy of XP pro. Is this true? And if so
how do I get one?

Greetings --

Microsoft won't "issue" you another Product Key, but they'll
gladly sell you an additional license, if you already own one retail
license. The Academic license doesn't qualify, as you've already
saved a substantial amount of money.
