Product Key

I purchased my computer from a used dealer,. I have
tried to update security packs on many occasions, but am
told that I have an invalid product key and that I need
to contact Microsoft to obtain a new one. Well, that has
been no help. Please help!

If so, there is nothing Microsoft can do...except sell you a license.

If you are trying to install Service Pack 1a and getting the
following:

The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid

You need to purchase and use a _legitimate_ full retail copy of
WinXP Pro to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation,
using the new CD and Product Key.

Remember, you should also report whomever sold/gave you the
pirated software to the pertinent law enforcement agencies; you've
been defrauded.
