Product Key Need Help ASAP

I recently had to reinstall my operating system, and at
that time I was asked for the product key, it did not
take but after many efforts it worked. Now I am
reinstalling my Work Suite 2002 and again its asking for
the product key...I am using the one on my tower. It
said use the one on my Certificate of Authenticity, or
jewel case..I do not have the paper sleeve anymore that
the CD was in as I placed it in a more secure jacket case.

I called Gateway they claim they have no way of getting
the key code for the 2002 only the 2003, tried 2 calls
same reply. They said to contact you you say to contact
them. Its a microsoft program so I am totally in a bind
here. I do not understand why this is happening or there
is no way to override this, everything else works fine so
far I think..

If Gateway cannot assist you, then unfortunately you are
out of luck. Time to bite the bullet and buy a new version:

The Product Key affixed to the exterior of the computer is that of
the operating system, not Microsoft Office. The Product Key for
office will be on the packaging of the installation CD that originally
came with the computer.

If you've misplaced yopur original Product Key, and the OEM cannot
help you, you've little option other than to purchase a new license.
And remenber to take better care of the Product Key. This is why
there's a brightly colored sticker that boldly says "Do not lose this
number."

Microsoft may not be able to help since it is an OEM product:

If Gateway can not help, you will need to buy it if you want to use
it.
In the future, you need to save the Product Keys as they are what you
really paid for.

product keys are one more way microsoft can get into your
pocketbooks....funny how no one has a product key when they need it....if it
were such an important number, it should be located on something not so
disposable like a wrapper or envelope. A $300 envelope at that. I was never
given a product key for works suite, I was given one for encarta, and
musicyour way, and none other. I have kept every bit of info that looked
somewhat important, including numbers I was told 'not to lose'.....no wonder
why the software is so often pirated. The company keeps every other number
and bit of vital info, except for the one they sell for gobs of money....what
a scam.

No, it is pirated by thieves because that is what thieves do.
The thieves would steal at any price.
This is just another of the lame excuses the thieves use to justify
their unethical behavior.

If you bought Works Suite retail, you needed the Product Key for the
original installation.
In that case you already know and have what is important.

If Works Suite is OEM, go to the seller and complain to them.
But the Product Key is most likely affixed to the envelope the CDs
were stored.
