My brilliant husband lost my pkg that had my product code id and I was never able to install my professional 2000 operating system. I have tried to contact microsoft, but they want money I cannot afford to just talk to me and give me advice. I had a girlfriend who was a computer genius who knew of sites with product id codes so you could install your software if you lost the number, but she has moved away and I have no idea how to track her down

I just need to know how I can get a product id code so I can install this program. Is there anyone who can email me with some advice? I can be reached at (e-mail address removed) or 417.294-2999.

If you lost your purse and all the money that was in it, could
you simply find a bank on the internet that would replace the
lost cash? Of course not! You'll need to take personal responsibility
and go out and purchase another copy of Windows and take care not
to misplace the Product Key.

Others may suggest finding cracks on the internet....they are 100%
bogus, fraudulent and a waste of time!

Greetings --

If you forgot where you parked your car, would you expect Ford to
give you another?

The Windows 25-character Product Key (required to perform the
installation) is stored on the CD packaging on a bright orange sticker
that says "Do not lose this number." If it was an OEM (factory
installed) license, it's stored on a label that the PC manufacturer
affixed to the exterior of the PC case, or on the bottom of a laptop.

To recover a lost Product Key:

If it was a retail license and you have proof of purchase:

If it was an OEM license, you should contact whomever sold you the
OS; although very few manufacturers/vendors keep records of the
Product Keys they've sold, it's worth a try before you have to buy a
new license.
