processes that don't end

i wanted to see if anyone has run into this problem or can help me with it.
i am running windows xp, SP1, with all updates except sp2, and norton
systemworks 2004. the problem that i am having is that after you exit a
program, the process for the program continues to run. i have seen this so
far with quicken (qw.exe), iexplorer, and aim. please help!

I don't have the solution but am having the same problem with iexplorer.exe.
Everytime I exit IE it leaves a copy of iexplorer.exe running (process),
until there are many copies that finally lock up everything. Hopefully,
someone can tell us how to solve this problem.
