Process Running on XP

There is process running on XP SP2 on my PC call Activation License Services
from Macrovision. What is it? Is this a legitimate XP service and do I need
it running. Can it be disabled. In addtion, how do you shut off the Windows
Defender Service.

Its a legitimate Macrovision service
google for details

Whether you can disable it depends on what Macrovision product you intalled

that macrovision one on vista comes up saying something like bad program
anyway its not needed. windows defender you can shut off buy going to
services and disabling the windows defender one
